Accessibility Statement

Therapy should be reachable by everyone who needs it, including people who use assistive technology. Here is the standard we build to, what we have verified, and how to tell us when we've fallen short.

Our commitment

Personal Injury Trauma Therapy is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with visual, hearing, motor, cognitive, or neurological disabilities. Many of the people we serve are managing concussion symptoms, chronic pain, light sensitivity, or difficulty concentrating after an injury. Designing for that is not an add-on for us; it is the audience.

The standard we build to

We build and test this site against WCAG 2.2 Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the level most commonly referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act; WCAG 2.2 includes everything in 2.1 and adds further criteria, so building to 2.2 also satisfies 2.1.

What we have done and verified

These are measured results from our most recent audit, not aspirations:

  • Automated testing with axe-core across every page type on the site returned zero WCAG 2.1 A/AA violations.
  • Text and interface colours meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required for normal text. Our primary call-to-action measures 5.21:1.
  • Every page has one main heading, a logical heading order, landmark regions, and a “skip to content” link for keyboard users.
  • The site is fully navigable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element. The menu closes on Esc and returns focus to the button that opened it.
  • Motion respects your system's reduced-motion setting. If you have asked your device to reduce motion, animations do not run.
  • Frequently asked questions use native disclosure elements, so answers are reachable by screen reader and by search without scripting.
  • Images that convey meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • The layout reflows to a single column on small screens without horizontal scrolling, and text can be resized without loss of content.

Known limitations

We would rather name gaps than imply there are none:

  • Our appointment request and referral forms are hosted by a third-party provider. We have limited control over that provider's markup. If you have trouble with a form, call us at (470) 836-4878 and we will take your information directly — there is no disadvantage to reaching us this way.
  • Our client portal is operated by SimplePractice and is governed by its own accessibility practices.
  • Automated testing cannot catch everything. Some criteria require human judgement, and we have not yet completed a formal audit with assistive technology users. Reports from real users are the most valuable thing we receive.

Getting the same help another way

If any part of this site is a barrier, you never have to use it to reach us. Call (470) 836-4878 (470-836-HURT) or email info@personalinjurytraumatherapy.com and a person will help you request an appointment, answer questions about cost and liens, and complete anything the website would have done. We can also take intake information over the phone.

Tell us about a barrier

If you hit something that does not work with your assistive technology, we want to hear about it. Email info@personalinjurytraumatherapy.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within three business days and to describe what we intend to do about the issue and when.

In a crisis

This website is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, call or text 988. These services support TTY and text.
