Therapy After a Traumatic Brain Injury

Therapy after a traumatic brain injury addresses the emotional weight of a TBI: the frustration, the fear about recovery, and the distress of not feeling like yourself.

  • Licensed clinicians
  • 100% telehealth, all 50 states
  • No pressure

What people describe

You may recognise some of this

  • Frustration at forgetting things you never used to forget
  • Irritability and a shorter fuse than before
  • Fear that this is permanent
  • Grief for the person you were before the injury
  • Feeling disbelieved, because the injury does not show

None of this is a diagnosis, and you do not need to tick every line to be worth treating.

Be clear about scope: we are a trauma therapy practice, not a neuropsychology or cognitive rehabilitation service. We do not diagnose a TBI, provide neuropsychological testing, or deliver cognitive rehab. Those belong with your neurologist or physiatrist. What we treat is the emotional impact, and that impact is often substantial.

Invisibility is a recurring theme. Without a cast or a scar, people around you assume you are fine, and the gap between how you feel and how you appear is isolating. Being believed is frequently the first useful thing that happens in therapy.

There is real grief here too. When concentration, memory or temperament change, people describe losing a version of themselves, and that loss deserves to be treated as loss rather than talked around.

What this costs

For patients with a personal-injury case, care starts with $0 upfront. We accept attorney and medical liens, so the cost is paid from your settlement when the case resolves.

How $0-upfront care works

For attorneys & referral partners

To be explicit, we do not provide neuropsychological assessment and our records should not be read as diagnosing or grading a brain injury. We treat and document the emotional and behavioural consequences, which complements rather than substitutes for neuropsychological evidence. We work on a letter of protection.

Common questions

Questions people ask

Can you diagnose or test my brain injury?

No. We do not provide neuropsychological testing or diagnose a TBI. That belongs with your neurologist or a neuropsychologist. We treat the emotional impact of the injury.

People say I seem fine. Why do I not feel fine?

Brain injuries are frequently invisible, and the mismatch between how you present and how you feel is one of the most isolating parts. It is a very common experience.

Is it normal to grieve who I was before?

Yes, and naming it as grief tends to help. Changes to memory, focus or temperament are real losses and treating them as such is more useful than minimising them.

Will my therapist be licensed in my state?

Yes. Therapy is licensed state by state, so we match you with a clinician licensed where you live. We confirm that licensure before your first session.

Is online trauma therapy as effective as in-person care?

Research shows telehealth trauma therapy can be just as effective as in-person care for most people, while removing barriers like travel and time off work during recovery.

Can my attorney refer me?

Yes. We coordinate with personal-injury attorneys and medical providers who refer patients, and we keep the legal and clinical sides aligned.
